W drodze do Niebiańskiego Jeruzalem nie idziemy sami, ale razem ze świętymi. Im się udało, to i mnie się uda. Święty Ignacy Loyola, założyciel jezuitów, pisze o tym w swojej autobiografii – że chciałby być jak św. Franciszek i jak św. Dominik, że chciałby zrobić tak, jak zrobili oni. Czy mu się udało? Historia pokazuje, że zrobił coś zupełnie innego, ale wszystko rozpoczyna się od pragnienia świętości.
Święci są jednym z największych skarbów Kościoła. Papież Benedykt XVI powiedział kiedyś, że święci i sztuka są najbardziej przekonującymi świadectwami, jakie może dać Kościół współczesnemu światu. I dlatego potrzebujemy otaczać się wizerunkami świętych, które są nie tylko po to, żeby o nich przypominać, to są to tylko pomniki historycznych postaci, ale właśnie jest po to, żeby uświadomić nam, że nie idziemy sami w tej pielgrzymce do Królestwa Niebieskiego!
I dlatego proszę was, módlmy się za wstawiennictwem świętych! Święci wspierają nas w Niebie i czekają na to aż poprosimy ich o pomoc. Chcą, żebyśmy ich prosili, czekają na to. Świętych obcowanie to nie jest tylko taka figura retoryczna w wyznaniu wiary, które odmawiamy co niedziela. To jest poważna sprawa. Świętych obcowanie to właśnie znaczy, że święci są w niebie i wstawiają się za nami!
